Simplify Compliance

With Onshape, compliance is made easy. Unlike traditional desktop CAD software that places the burden of many regulatory responsibilities on the customer, Onshape’s cloud infrastructure helps ensure that you stay compliant with less hassle. This helps manage the complexities so you can focus on designing rather than worrying about regulations. It’s compliance, simplified—another way Onshape is built to empower your business.

Secure, Compliant CAD

Onshape Government meets key standards to support your ITAR, and EAR compliance, including using FIPS 140-3 validated cryptography. This provides robust protection for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). With comprehensive security controls and effective risk management, it ensures the highest level of confidence for agencies and contractors seeking a secure, compliant CAD solution.

Reduced Overhead

Onshape Government significantly reduces IT overhead, saving you both time and money. Traditional file-based CAD systems used for regulatory compliance, require considerable resources and oversight for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) data, but with Onshape’s cloud-native approach, it eliminates the need for those time-consuming audits. The time saved allows your teams to focus on what matters most: delivering high-quality designs.

Got Questions?

Onshape Government provides everything a company needs to achieve ITAR/EAR compliance. The key requirement for ITAR/EAR is to limit access to CUI from non-U.S. persons. Access to Onshape Government for support and operational purposes is only available to authorized U.S. employees of PTC. Similarly, AWS GovCloud, which Onshape Government is built upon, likewise restricts access to its systems to U.S. persons only.

AWS GovCloud (US) is a cloud service that allows U.S. government agencies, contractors, and other customers to securely store sensitive data and workloads. It has been tailored to comply with regulations such as ITAR and U.S. government programs like FedRAMP. AWS manages AWS GovCloud and ensures compliance with US laws and regulations

See additional FAQs for AWS GovCloud here.

Onshape has the intent to make Onshape Government meet CMMC 2.0, and will be pursuing certification as soon as accredited assessors become available.

Onshape has an intent to achieve our FedRAMP Moderate Authorization to Operate (ATO) and was designed with the goal of achieving FedRAMP Moderate.

Onshape Government will be implemented in alignment with NIST 800-171 R3, which outlines how to protect CUI, and focuses on ensuring that sensitive information is secured through specific control measures. Additionally, Onshape Government has implemented FIPS 140-3 approved cryptographic algorithms and validated modules throughout the service.
